it sucks, but thats all you can do, just race it out. i remember making a little program on a graphing calculator that would be completely random yes or no answers. I hit no 7 times in a row before hitting yes, even though it was completely random and 50% chance of hitting either one. Its just pure luck.

i agree that really when you are really racing, if you just had a fresh tune up, oil change, new tires, etc, you will not break down, but in the game you do. Its not perfect, i know, but i'm sure someone could change the numbers a little.
