Hi guys ive only been playing for a few days. I feel like I have learned most of the basics, but I can't figure out how to earn crew models. I currently have 1 haha. Can anyone help a new guy out?

All you have to do to gain crew models is WIN ONLINE races. You do not gain them from getting raced offline. You do not gain them for winning races in AP. You have to race people that you think that you can beat and you will start to earn them. I would suggest getting your EXP up a little bit and then it will be easier to do. Hopefully this helps you out a little bit.

I have been trying to race online players, and I still don't seem to get them. Do they need to have crew models that you 'take' from them by winning? Or can you earn them by racing anyone online?

No they do not have to have any that you can take. You just have to race online people and win. Your W/L ratio will help you get more if it is higher, but you should gain them at any ratio. You will just have to race different people and win multiple races in a row. They should start coming in.

Most people say you get 1 crew model for every 5 online races you win... but I usually get 1 crew model for every 2-3 online races that I win!

Can you race people below you that are online as well? There only seems to be a handful of people who are online near me, and most above me have far superior cars

You can challenge anyone who is Online, no matter how little or how big their Networth is... so long as they are online and not on Auto play!
